Let's Get Cooking!
Crafting the Crust: Follow the instructions in the perfect pizza dough recipe to create your sourdough crust. Making a sourdough crust takes several hours, I start my dough in the morning so I can bake the pizza for dinner.
Preheat your oven to at least 450°F (230°C)
Toss your sourdough crust into a large 14" circle, or roll it out on a baking sheet.
Pour the sauce, then sprinkle your spices evenly on top of the sauce.*
Sprinkle mozzarella and parmesan generously over the sauce.*
Drizzle 2 tablespoons of olive oil around the edge of the crust. This will give your pizza a beautiful golden hue and crispy texture.
Bake your pizza for 12-15 minutes or until it starts to brown.**
*Note: If you made your pizza smaller than 14 inches, you should use less of your sauce, spices, and cheese.
**Note: When using a metal baking sheet, consider pre-baking the crust for 5-6 minutes before adding the sauce. Alternatively, using a baking stone can help achieve a "brick-oven" texture for your crust, resulting in faster cooking. If you have experience with a brick oven, well... you don't need my advice.
